May 31: Zhana Ivanova & Naked Wolf
Zhana Ivanova presents:
Flipsides [Part 1]
Considering how our lives are largely driven by notions of worth and purpose, Ivanova is concentrating on things which have been rendered marginal and useless. She is making lists of everything that appears to no longer fulfill its function, and aims to figure out a way to make the discarded somehow significant again. In a series of short public presentations she will introduce select items from her lists and attempts to put them to some good use.
Flipsides [Part 1] features Mariangela Tinelli, and takes place on Thursday May 31st at 9pm
Zhana Ivanova (Russe, Bulgaria) produces works in the field of performance and time-based arts. The patterns and systems to which we accustom within daily experience are of central interest. She attempts forms, which are inherent to the subjects in question. Her constructions are initially formal and rule-governed, yet within those she insistently exposes the ambiguity of her own rules.
Since January 2012 Ivanova is a resident at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam.
